Homemade Scalp Scrub
BENEFITS: You exfoliate your face, your legs, potentially your whole body… but not your scalp. Why? Exfoliating the scalp increases blood flow, making your hair grow faster, healthier, and stronger. It can help or even solve a number of scalp problems, from itching to oiliness to dandruff. It removes any build up of products, dead skin, and oil.
My Recipe: 4 teaspoons of Granulated Sugar 1 tablespoon of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo in Lavender
Alternatives: Brown Sugar (most gentle exfoliator) Caster Sugar (‘normal’ exfoliation) Any shampoo of your choice A natural oil instead of shampoo
Tips:- Use immediately to prevent the sugar from dissolving into the liquid- Use on wet hair, then wash hair as normal- Play around with the ratios to create the consistency you want- Focus on the worst affected areas- Use every other wash until problem dissipates, then use fortnightly or monthly, or as required.
FOR SPECIFIC PROBLEMS
Oily Scalp4 teaspoons of Granulated or Caster Sugar1 tablespoon of one of the below:- Grapeseed Oil- Peppermint Oil- Lemon or Orange juice (freshly squeezed)- Tea Tree Oil
Dry Scalp4 teaspoons of Brown or Caster Sugar1 tablespoon of one of the below:- Olive Oil- Coconut Oil- Almond Oil- Chamomile
